With the bountiful blessings of God
came the generosity of a man. The fourteen-hectare land was donated by
a friend of Fr. Charles Braga,SDB, the honorable Jose
Yulo Sr. It was Fr. Jose Luis Carreņo,SDB who
steered the seminary in its incipient existence. This made him the very
first rector of the community. Pioneering this with him were Fr. John
Benna, SDB and, then, Bro. Valeriano Barbero,SDB. They occupied a two-storey
building which was lost in the vast green sugarland. The passersby hardly
saw anything significant about the budding Salesians in their midst. In
all externalities, another college, another seminary was born. Providence,
however, fell in love with it at first sight. Slowly, the seminary underwent
the business of growing. The following years saw the construction of the
other buildings. This was made possible through the generous offerings
of benefactors, notably the Misereor Fund Organization. |
